Pinterest allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more, in a pinboard-style format. People can browse other pinboards, ‘like’ photos or ‘re-pin’ images to their own collections.
Pinterest’s states its mission as being to “connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting”, and allows users to share ‘pins’ on both Twitter and Facebook, meaning users can interact and share with a broad community
Pinterest acts like a personalized media platform, where your own content can be browsed on the main page, as well as other people’s uploaded pins. When browsing for relevant pins of interest or new boards, users can visit a “Tastemakers” page that highlights pinboards that have content similar to previous pins saved by a user.
